FC Merivälja secured a spot in top futsal Grandliiga 2022/23 by winning qualification group in front of L.F.C., FC Starmedia and Maccabi.

We finished main league season with 16 points, leveling with FCS Social on 7th place of the league table (despite one tech. loss where 3 points were taken away from us).
League was full of top quality teams with many active/former professional football/futsal players, where realistically we couldn’t fight for more then places 7-10. We won all direct opponents for places 7-10 and we managed to upset FC Doker early on with a spectacular 9:6 victory, which was likely highlight of this season for us.

In Grandliiga cup we won the group convincingly with maximum 9 points, eliminating one of the favorites AZE United to small cup. Knockout stage paired us up again with FC Starmedia, who we won in qualifiers couple months ago with solid 3:0. This time in 1/4 finals of the cup match looked identical in first halftime where we took the lead 3:1 (and missed several opportunities to finish the game). Starmedia lowered the score in literally last second of first halftime and despite our many chances in second halftime managed to turn around the score and won the match 4:3. In half finals they were helpless against later cup winner FC Centurion.

Already in May we continue with mini-football Grandliiga championship, where we will compete in top division for the first time, after winning Grandliiga 2 last summer.
