AFC Eyjafjallajökull – FC Merivälja
Today we met AFC Eyjafjallajökull for a decisive match in qualifications for Grandliiga B.
We took the initiative and controlled the match from the very beginning. Already in 7th minute Salakka made a deep pass to Selišek, who then found opened Kuusk just outside penalty box. Kuusk dribbled trough one defender and placed a beautiful shot in top left corner for an early lead.
After the goal Eyjafjallajökull tried to fight back with high pressing, which is usually their key strength, but today our defense and goalkeeper were all very composed and we were able to keep them away from our goal. On the opposite side we created couple of chances trough Kuusk and Kelder, but the halftime ended with 0:1.
In second halftime Eyjafjallajökull had to risk a bit more, leaving more space in the back, where we created several dangerous situations. First Vähesoo found himself in good situation, however his pass to Selišek was intercepted by the goalkeeper. Soon after Kuusk tested the goalkeeper with couple strong shots and towards the end of the match Kelder found Metsmaa, who was alone in front of the goal, but his shot went wide. Opponents didn’t create any notable goal chances this time. They did fire 2-3 shots outside the box, but they all went wide.
At the end well deserved win and direct qualification to Grandliiga B with maximum points.
