Tough match in second round of SEM qualifiers against experienced team of Kavial.
We opened the match with two quick fouls in first couple of minutes, which affected our defensive play in the first halftime. Kavial took the lead after 8 minutes after good shot from Polevtsov. Merivälja players leveled the score after Raita passed to Solodov who then quickly found Tebyanian alone at the far post for an easy goal. Just before halftime Kavial took the lead again after misunderstanding in our defense, but Tebyanian answered with another equalizer just minute after with a nice chip over the opposite keeper, after quality pass from Raita.
Mališauskas ruined our plan for second half already in first minute with a goal after poor defending from Ojamaa. Salakka soon equalized with a precise long range shot.
After this goal it was only one way traffic until the end of the match. Solodov took Merivälja to lead for the first time in this match with nice shot from left side just outside the box. Tebyanian scored his hat-trick in 33rd minute after nice pass from Leppik and Brorrson added another goal in 36th minute after a quick counter attack. In last 4 minutes it looked like internal competition who can miss a nicer goal chance from Merivälja players. Let’s just mention saved 10-m penalty shot taken by Brorsson and couple of really good scoring chances by Ojamaa, Brorrson and Raita.
It took long time to break Kavial team today, but at the end it was well deserved win, which could have been even higher at the end.
Next week we have double program – match against Tallinna Depoo on Saturday followed by lower league “classic” against well known opponent of JKL Tigrid on Sunday.
